7 Healthy Foods You Should be Eating

One of the advantages of blogging about getting healthier is that it isn’t as easy to cheat when you’ve told the world what you are going to do.

I think that’s a good thing.

It also means that friends send me articles like this one from the Huffington Post talking about the 7 healthy foods that you should be eating but probably aren’t.

I actually eat some of them already. What about you?

Kale:

I’ve never tried kale, but I tend to like greens so I should give it a try if it really is that good for you.

Sardines:

I actually just bought my very first tin of sardines after hearing Alton Brown talk about them on the Dr. Oz show. I haven’t been brave enough to try them yet.

Pomegranates:

The only time I’ve had pomegranate seeds was when I made this fun party drink for my non-drinking friends. It was a big hit. My recollection was that the seeds were only available for a few months of the year, and they were expensive. They did taste good though.

I haven’t tried the actual fruit. Not sure I will.

Oatmeal:

I love oatmeal. I eat it for breakfast, lunch or a slightly sweet evening snack. I’ve also made an oatmeal dessert and oatmeal pancakes. I even add dry oatmeal to my yogurt.

Quinoa:

Pronounced keen-wa, I’ve only had it when eating at Crazy Bowls & Wraps. Similar to couscous in consistancy, I’ve found that it isn’t solid or moist enough to help hold together a wrap. But, it’s great in the multi-grain salad that they now offer (ask for it as it’s not on the menu). I hope they don’t drop this salad because it’s a favorite fast meal for me.

Maybe I’ll even buy it at the grocery and try cooking it one of these days.

Kefir:

I just don’t think I can do drinkable yogurt. You?

Lentils:

I don’t love lentils, but I don’t dislike them either. I did make a red lentil soup that was pretty tasty. I should eat these more. They are cheap and healthy.
